About the Program

The first experiment presented will show a fan powered using a vinegar and baking soda reaction. Professor Blast’s demonstration shows changes in states of energy from potential energy stored within the baking soda to rotational kinetic energy in the form of a fan. Through the demonstration, Professor Blast will explain the science behind how a simple motor works, and how energy is used from the baking soda to power that.

“Professor Blast’s Lab” introduces youth, ages 6-12, to unique and exciting chemistry experiments, fostering a love for science. Through live demonstrations, hands-on learning, and interactive games, Professor Blast exposes kids to science in a fun and engaging way.

The second experiment involves hands-on chemistry. Kids will use a PH indicator to see how the acidity of water changes. It allows them to see something that is normally invisible to the naked eye. For this experiment, we will use red cabbage juice to show the acidity of various solutions through the change of color.

About Me

Professor Blast, also known as Noah Nicholus, is a rising senior at Naperville Central High School. He has a passion for chemistry and STEM – the building blocks of our world. He has tutored his peers in chemistry, helping them to not only understand the concepts, but to also have fun while learning. Noah is studying chemistry and science and is taking a variety of classes, including AP chemistry, advanced chemistry, and AP psychology. He enjoys seeing the world through the lens of science and looks forward to sharing that perspective. Through Professor Blast’s Lab, Noah hopes to encourage enthusiasm and make science a blast!
